Connected devices drive Comcast to ramp up KC internet speeds

Comcast will ramp up its service for Kansas City-area customers by next week, boosting download speeds by 25 percent for two of its most popular services.

The free upgrade will help address increasing demand as consumers connect more devices to the internet, a Comcast representative said.

Comcast will offer the improvement to area customers with two of its middle-of-the-line plans: the Performance Pro, which is advertised for fast-streaming speeds and four to six connected devices, and the Blast Pro, advertised for quick downloads, multiplayer gaming and six to eight devices.

Comcast is rolling out the update now, with the goal of providing consumers faster speeds in time for the holiday weekend. New customers should receive the faster speeds right away, with the full process completed by Dec. 1.
