A new concept in golf entertainment plans to open its second facility as part of a $133 million, 62-acre redevelopment project in North Kansas City.
Driv Golf Lounge & Brewhouse, the brainchild of a Los Angeles-based design and production company, plans to open its first location in Wichita in 2018. For that location, the company won approval from the Wichita City Council for as much as $29 million in Kansas sales tax revenue — or STAR — bond authority. Those STAR bonds have yet to receive authorization from the Kansas Department of Commerce.
In North Kansas City, Driv plans to build a 66,000-square-foot facility.
Driv also plans to build a stand-alone restaurant and microbrewery as part of its facility. Ultimately, the company plans to launch 20 other U.S. locations once it acquires more private funding.
Driv is similar in concept to TopGolf, which opened a three-level, 65-000-square-foot facility in Overland Park in 2015.
