AMC Entertainment Holdings on Monday announced another blockbuster buyout, pushing its own screens total to 11,000 worldwide.
Leawood, Kansas-based AMC, the world’s largest theater operator, will purchase Nordic Cinema Group Holding AB in a deal valued at $929 million.
Nordic Cinema is the No. 1 theater operator in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and No. 2 in market share in Norway. Nordic operates 68 theaters and has a stake in another 50 theaters.
AMC said in a release that the boards of the two companies have approved the all-cash deal and it is expected to close in the first half of this year, pending antitrust clearance by the European Commission.
