Two breweries with Missouri operations were among the top 50 American breweries of 2016 by sales volume, according to an annual list released last week by the Brewers Association, a trade group representing independent craft brewers.
Anheuser-Busch, Inc., the St. Louis-based subsidiary of Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev, topped the Brewers Association list.
MillerCoors (Chicago), Pabst Brewing Co (Los Angeles), D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. (Pottsville, Pennsylvania) and North American Breweries (Rochester, New York) rounded out the top five.
Duvel Moortgat, the Belgian brewery that owns Kansas City-based Boulevard Brewing, ranked 12th on the Brewers Association’s list. Duvel also owns Brewery Ommegang, based in Cooperstown, New York, and Firestone Walker Brewing Company, based in Paso Robles, California. Duvel ranked sixth on the Brewers Association’s list of 50 largest craft breweries.
According to the list, 40 out of the top 50 overall breweries in the U.S. are craft breweries.
