Hy-Vee gets approval for KC e-commerce fulfillment center, central kitchen

Hy-Vee Inc. is planning a $29 million Kansas City construction project to build an e-commerce fulfillment center and central kitchen for its Kansas City-area stores.

Hy-Vee said the facilities will start with 127 employees and eventually employ around 200 people making an average of about $30,000 per year.

The facility will support Hy-Vee’s online order and delivery program, and its kitchen facility will prepare food for distribution to area stores.

The project, located in the Three Trails Industrial Park area, was approved on Thursday by the Kansas City Council and will begin with $17 million in industrial revenue bonds.

The company will enjoy a personal property tax abatement of 50 percent for the next decade.
