A-B InBev’s brewers come out swinging against new craft beer seal

The world’s largest brewer has unleashed its marketing team on the Brewers Association after the trade group unveiled a new seal of approval for independent craft brews.

The seal can only be used by small craft breweries, which excludes all of the craft breweries that Anheuser-Busch InBev has recently acquired. It is meant to give smaller brewing operations an edge with beer connoisseurs in an increasingly crowded and competitive field of craft brewers.

The video response went up Friday morning and some comments from viewers are already calling the brewery giant touchy.

A-B InBev is a member of the Brewers Association which represents nearly 3,900 brewers, who account for more than 99 percent of the beer brewed in the U.S.

The association has said transparency and independence matters, which is the reason they developed the seal.
