Enterprise CarShare pulling out of six cities

Enterprise CarShare is scaling back its retail programs in Boston, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Washington D.C.

CarShare, a unit of Clayton-based Enterprise Holdings, allows customers to rent vehicles by the hour from dedicated parking spaces, without visiting branch locations.

Enterprise, the world’s largest rental car provider, has grown its car-sharing business in recent years through multiple acquisitions.

The company says it will keep its regular operations in cities including St. Louis, Toronto, New York, Philadelphia and London.
