The St. Louis office of the Better Business Bureau will acquire the Springfield branch of the organization in a move that makes the St. Louis office one of the largest in North America, according to a news release.
The Springfield office, which oversees 24 counties that include Springfield, Joplin and Branson, will remain open as a regional office of the St. Louis division.
According to the release, the merger will make the St. Louis region the seventh-largest of the 103 total territories the bureau runs in North America. It will be responsible for 116 counties throughout the state.
More than 6 million people live in the new service area.
Michelle Corey, president and CEO of the St. Louis office, said that the acquisition would mean more and better service in the region, including “heightened emphasis on charity review, mediation, and investigations.”
