KCI proposals by the numbers: A heavy lift

The wait marches on for Kansas City’s decision on a developer for a new Kansas City International Airport.

Jermaine Reed, a Kansas City councilman who is on the KCI selection committee, indicated Tuesday that the group’s task is not an easy one.

According to a statement Tuesday, Reed pointed to the following facts and figures that underpin the selection committee’s evaluation of four proposals to design, build and finance KCI.

  • The four proposals from AECOM, Burns & McDonnell, Jones Lang LaSalle and Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate all add up to 1,411 pages. The city’s solicitation was 46 pages.
  • There were 45 listening sessions in front of a total of 1,600 people.
  • The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Kansas City Area Development Council held about 70 presentations.

“Overall, thousands of hours have been committed by hundreds of people to get us to this very point in time when the selection committee members are poised to complete their final analysis and deliberation of the proposals and provide a recommendation for a qualifications-based selection,” Reed said.
