University of Missouri Press Will Remain

The University of Missouri says it will keep its academic publishing business open and drop plans for a new digitally-driven publishing operation.

The university announced Tuesday that the University of Missouri Press will stay in its current building and keep its current staff.

The announcement reverses a May 24 decision to replace the university’s publishing business with a digital-driven alternative. That decision prompted protests on campus and around the country, with some authors asking the school to return their publishing rights.
