Kansas City Breweries Co. LLC plans to build a large-scale brewing and beverage manufacturing complex in Kansas City with the capacity to produce 100,000 barrels of beer annually. The facility will have additional capability for bottling private-label sports energy drinks, sodas, ciders and juice products for local grocery and convenience stores.
Kansas City Breweries is the supplier of KC Lager, KC Lite and soon KC Malt beer brands, which are available at stores in the Kansas City area.
The beers tap into the regional affinity and identity associated with craft beers, yet offer the familiar tastes of large-scale domestic beers. They’re designed to be lower-cost options to the mega-brewers such as Budweiser, Miller and Coors.
Sam Lipari, head of business development for Kansas City Breweries, said Kansas City Breweries will spend $10 million to $15 million to set up the new beverage manufacturing operation. Renovation is expected to be completed in six to nine months. When completed, the operation will employ 100 to 150 people.
