After 84 years in business, Sedgwick LLP will cease operations in early January.
San Francisco-based Sedgwick has management operations in the Kansas City area. Its local employees include David Allen, interim human relations officer; Brandon Summers, interim CFO; Dianna Thimjon, chief information officer; Maggie Watkins, chief marketing officer; and Patricia Williamson, chief strategy officer.
Sedgwick didn’t respond to inquiries about the total number of employees it has at its Crown Center offices, though it reported having about 100 in February. However, the company did issue a statement.
“We have concluded that the best way to allow our lawyers to continue providing great service to our clients is by ceasing operations and moving to other excellent law firms,” Sedgwick said in the statement. “We are pleased that most of our lawyers and staff have opportunities with very fine firms.”
A report by Law.com stated that a “large number” of attorneys and staff would be hired by Clyde & Co., which recently attempted to reach a merger deal with Sedgwick.
