The Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis is planning to open its first facility in Illinois, hospital officials said Tuesday.
Officials from the center, which is operated by Washington University physicians in partnership with BJC HealthCare, are seeking approval from state health regulators to build a $38.3 million facility in Shiloh on the new 94-acre campus of Memorial Hospital East.
If approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, construction would begin in early 2018, and completion is slated for late 2019.
The announcement comes on the heels of BJC HealthCare’s decision to seek full control of both Memorial hospitals — the one in Shiloh and another in Belleville.
