Cerner’s $10 billion VA contract hits a snag

Cerner’s $10 billion contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has been put on hold, according to a published report.

David Shulkin, Veterans Affairs secretary, said the holdup has to do with questions about how well Cerner’s electronic records system will work with other systems, according to Politico.

Shulkin made his comments during a Politico-sponsored event on Tuesday.

Politico said the VA issued a request for information about data-sharing solutions. It said Shulkin suggested that it may be enough to do “case studies,” which the VA sends patients through its health care system.

Cerner officials could not be reached immediately.
