LaunchCode mints new class of coders in Kansas City

LaunchCode, the St. Louis-based organization that offers apprenticeship-style training for people looking to learn tech skills, christened its latest class of graduates last week in Kansas City. The class of 60 featured graduates with a variety of experiences and backgrounds, including an Afghan immigrant and a mother of six.

LaunchCode officials say the Kansas City class was the organization’s most successful yet in terms of graduation rate, with 61 percent of students completing the course.

LaunchCode, established in 2013 by St. Louis entrepreneur and Square co-founder Jim McKelvey, offers free technical training that could cost up to $10,000 at coding bootcamps.
