World Wide Technology is planning to expand its facilities and add up to 500 employees over five years in the St. Louis area.
In what’s believed to be one of the largest industrial real estate transactions ever for the area, the Maryland Heights-based technology services provider has signed a lease to occupy 2 million square feet of industrial space at two buildings in Edwardsville, Illinois. TriStar Properties, based in Earth City, Illinois, is developing the project, which is expected to cost more than $115 million.
The new buildings will house the center where employees develop new technology and applications, and it will serve as World Wide Technology’s distribution hub for North America.
World Wide Technology, one of the St. Louis area’s largest private companies, reported $10.4 billion in revenue last year. It employs 4,500 people, including 2,100 in the St. Louis region.
