Centene CEO Michael Neidorff, the highest-paid chief executive in the St. Louis area for three straight years, appears likely to retain that title for a fourth year based on his 2017 compensation package of $25.3 million.
In a proxy statement filed March 9, the Clayton-based health insurer says Neidorff was rewarded for Centene’s strong performance, its acquisition of HealthNet and its growth over the last five years.
Neiroff’s pay last year was 379 times the $66,000 median salary of Centene’s 33,000-plus employees. His compensation marked a 15 percent increase over his 2016 pay.
