Mercy, one of the St. Louis area’s largest hospital operators, is buying Metro Imaging, a medical imaging firm with five outpatient facilities that provide high-tech medical tests like MRI and CT scans.
Metro Imaging has long used its independence and lower prices as a selling point to customers, notably criticizing hospitals’ business practices in a 2013 advertisement.
Metro Imaging, founded in 1994 by a group of radiologists, will continue to operate independently, retaining its name and branding. Mercy said customers will not see price increases at Metro Imaging.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
