The Jordan Valley Community Health Center will expand its staff and its ability to cater to patients in southwest Missouri thanks to a $1.5 million grant from UnitedHealthcare. Jordan Valley was chosen from hundreds of health care centers as one of two recipients of the grant, United announced Friday.
The grant will help Jordan Valley increase its number of full-time community health workers from two to 12, in an effort to improve social services and primary care for thousands of low-income residents of the region.
Community health workers perform a range of services, including helping connect people to resources like food, housing and transportation, providing health screenings, and helping people apply for health benefits.
