Audit shows UM System progress on executive pay

A new audit by State Auditor Nicole Galloway found that the University of Missouri System has instituted positive changes since a 2017 audit revealed executive compensation practices that may have violated the state constitution.

The 2017 audit found that the UM System gave about $1.2 million in bonuses to executives and top administrators without specific performance goals or approval from the Board of Curators.

The system ended its incentive program in March 2017, just after the release of the audit.

The UM System said this week it has since cut almost $2.8 million in administrative spending “that did not directly support the university’s mission.”
