Mercy opens first of 30 planned urgent care clinics

Health care system Mercy’s planned expansion into the urgent care business is beginning to take root in southwest Missouri.

Mercy, which earlier this year announced plans to team with GoHealth Urgent Care in opening 30 clinics across the Midwest, debuted its first clinic on Saturday and its second on Tuesday, according to a press release. Both are in Springfield.

Plans call for additional clinics in the St. Louis and Springfield metro areas, as well as in the Oklahoma City region and in northwest Arkansas.

The clinics are meant to treat people older than 6 months who have medical conditions that aren’t life-threatening. The clinics accept “most commercial insurance plans,” according to the release.

Chesterfield-based Mercy and Atlanta-based GoHealth say perks of the new clinics include online preregistration, a real-time wait clock and mobile X-ray capabilities.
