Developer wants to bring aquarium to Branson

A 46,000-square-foot aquarium featuring a coral reef, a touch pool and more “may be coming” to Branson in 2020, according to a website teasing the venue.

Los Angeles-based Kuvera Partners, which bought the site of the proposed aquarium for $2.7 million in 2014, is behind the project, which would redevelop Branson’s long-vacant Grand Palace Theater.

Kuvera presented the plan for its “Aquarium at the Boardwalk” to the Branson Board of Aldermen during a Thursday meeting, the Branson Tri-Lakes News reports.

The developer is seeking tax increment financing from Branson to help finance the project.

The website for the proposed project currently features a section soliciting feedback from visitors, asking “how excited” they are about the possibility of an aquarium coming to Branson.
