Through the first seven months of the year, 2018 had already set a record for corporate purchasing of clean energy, according to a new report from Bloomberg NEF.
Companies and agencies across the globe, excluding utilities, had agreed to buy 7.2 GW of clean energy through the end of July, already surpassing the previous yearly high of 5.4 GW, set in 2017, according to the report.
Facebook leads the way, with more than 1,000 megawatts purchased already. The U.S. and Nordic countries account for more than 80 percent of all corporate clean energy buying so far this year.
