Washington University in St. Louis exceeded its goal by raising about $3.38 billion in gifts and commitments through its six-year “Leading Together” campaign that ended June 30, according to a university press release.
The campaign, which was officially announced in October 2012, sought to raise $2.2 billion.
The campaign raised $591 million to fund scholarships to the university, according to the release. The funding push also resulted in:
- Support for 153 new endowed positions
- More than $1.5 billion for academic programs
- $311 million for facilities
- $297 million toward flexible funds to address urgent needs.
More than $1.2 billion of the funds raised went to the university’s endowment.
