Missouri has 131,308 homes that are seriously underwater, meaning the homeowner owes at least 25 percent more than the estimated market value of the property, according to a new report from ATTOM Data Solutions, a property data provider.
The report shows that 13.2 percent of Missouri properties are seriously underwater, meaning the state has the 11th-highest rate of those properties in the country. The nationwide average is 9.3 percent.
The report also showed that one St. Louis ZIP code has the second-highest share of seriously underwater properties. More than 67 percent of homes in the city’s 63137 ZIP code are underwater, lower than only the 08611 ZIP code in Trenton, New Jersey.
