Missouri Minimum Wage Might Go Up a Dime

Missouri’s minimum wage is set to rise on Jan. 1, even though Missourians won’t be voting on the issue this November.

That’s because voters, back in 2006, decided that the state minimum wage should be adjusted every year for inflation. The state Labor Department typically announces the adjustment in October, but employers needn’t wait that long to estimate what the change will be. The price index that the department uses — the July reading of something called the Midwest CPI-W — is already available and it’s pointing toward a 10-cent increase.
