Wet weather will continue to impact Midwest farmers in 2016: survey

Missouri farmers will continue to experience the effects of this year’s abnormally wet weather in 2016, a new agriculture survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis suggests, but recent bumper harvests could help weather the storm.

Kevin Kliesen of the Federal Reserve Bank said the agriculture sector has been going through some tough times, and grain farmers have witnessed continuous decline in their income for the last couple of years. But on the other hand, Kliesen said for livestock producers the financial condition “still looks pretty good.”
