KC Metro Woman Convicted of Massive Tax Fraud

A Riverside woman pleaded guilty in federal court in what prosecutors say is the largest federal false tax claims case ever prosecuted in Missouri.

Kristi Jones faces up to five years in prison when sentenced for filing a false claim for a tax refund, part of a nationwide tax fraud scheme that tried to get nearly $100 million in fraudulent refunds from the IRS. Seven codefendants were convicted previously, including the owner of Kansas City-based ABC Seamless Siding. The conspirators got more than $3.5 million of the attempted fraudulent refunds.
