M&A Activity Dipped In KC Last Year

Merger and acquisition activity in the Kansas City area decreased by 15 percent to 128 deals in 2013, the lowest number since 2009, according to Country Club Capital Advisors.

There was an uptick nationally in M&A activities in the fourth quarter last year, but not in Kansas City.

There were several smaller deals of note in the region, like the repurchase of Silpada Designs from Avon Products Inc. The only deal over $1 billion worth was the $1.85 billion merger between Inergy LP and Crestwood Midstream Partners LP.
