Fed opens economy museum near Gateway Arch

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis has opened an “Inside the Economy” museum on the ground floor of its downtown office building. With the Great Recession seared so deeply in the public consciousness, the St. Louis Fed designed its $3 million museum to focus on the economy, with information about scarcity, markets, unemployment, inflation and banking.

The St. Louis Fed became the 11th out of 12 Reserve banks to house a museum, which have different focuses. In Kansas City and Denver, for example, the Fed’s “Money Museums” display historical currency and teach visitors how to identify counterfeit bills.
