UMB acquires Marquette Financial for $182 million

UMB Financial Corp. announced it signed an agreement to acquire Marquette Financial Cos. in an all-stock transaction worth about $182.5 million. Marquette Financial Cos. is a $1.3 billion-asset financial services company that owns Meridian Bank, which has branches in Arizona and Texas.

The sale would give Marquette Financial’s owners, the Pohlad family, a 7 percent ownership stake in Kansas City-based UMB Financial, second largest behind UMB Financial Chairman Mariner Kemper with 11.58 percent.

The deal is expected to close in mid-2015.
