St. Louis County and Casino Argue Over Taxes

ST. LOUIS – Two months after St. Louis County more than doubled the appraised value and tax liability of Harrah’s casino in Maryland Heights, the two sides argued the issue on Thursday before the county’s Board of Equalization.

In June, County Assessor Jake Zimmerman raised the personal property value of the casino to $439 million from $152 million.

On top of the casino’s real estate value of about $63 million, the move brought the total appraised value of the business to about $502 million. Read more at St. Louis Post Dispatch.
