Garmin Joins the S&P 500

Garmin Ltd. is set to join the S&P 500 next week, Standard & Poor’s said Wednesday.

Garmin, whose operational headquarters is in the Kansas City suburb of Olathe, will replace R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. in the S&P 500 stock index when trading closes on Dec. 11. Given the criteria for becoming an S&P 500 company, the change effectively means that, according to Standard & Poors’ indices, Garmin is one of the top 500 publicly traded companies in the United States.
