CenturyLink to close Columbia office, lay off 40

CenturyLink is shutting down a regional dispatch center in downtown Columbia and will lay off 40 employees.

Employees at the office dispatch technicians across Missouri. Those responsibilities will now be transitioned to centers in Wisconsin and North Carolina.

According to its website, CenturyLink is the No. 3 telecommunications company in the country and employs more than 2,200 people in Missouri.
