Missouri Aircraft Parts Makers Combine

LMI Aerospace has closed on its $247 million deal to purchase Valent Aerostructures.

The St. Charles-based aircraft parts maker says acquiring Kansas City-based Valent will expand its reach into the commercial aircraft sector. Each company makes parts for both commercial and military planes.

The combined company will have sales of more than $480 million in 2013 and more than 2,000 employees in facilities across seven states. It will remain headquartered in St. Charles, though some senior leaders will be based in Kansas City.
