The day he took over as president, Darren Hawkins sent a memo to YRC Freight employees detailing a revised management structure at the Overland Park, Kan.-based trucking company.
YRC Freight, which reported a decline in operating revenue in 2013 but is now clear of arduous labor negotiations and debt refinancing, will now have seven different operating divisions instead of four, the memo said. Those divisions will be led by division vice presidents responsible for operations and field sales. Those vice presidents will report directly to Hawkins.
The memo said the moves will allow those closest to revenue generation and operational performance at YRC Freight to be in control of profitable growth and service cycle execution.
