KC Streetcar Construction Groundbreaking This Week

Construction of the 2.2-mile, $114 million streetcar line in downtown Kansas City will begin formally on Thursday, about 17 months after voters approved the project. The event will mark the beginning of water and sewer work conducted by KC Streetcar Constructors — Kansas City’s construction manager at risk for the project. It is a joint venture of St. Joseph-based Herzog Contracting Corp. and California rail builder Stacy and Witbeck Inc.

Water and sewer work will last about eight months. Track work will begin about three months after water and sewer work begins and will last about 12 months.
