KC faces contract issues after streetcar expansion falls

Kansas City voters last week rejected a proposal to partially finance expansion of a new streetcar line, but the city has already entered contracts and spent money planning the extension.

Kansas City officials said the city will review those contracts and ask contractors how soon they can cease work on the project.

Within the next couple of weeks, Public Works Department staff will present to the Kansas City Council a report that includes information on all contracts related to the expansion, how much money already has been spent and how much work has been completed but not paid for.
