St. Louis Metro, transit union leaders, strike deal

Metro and the union that represents some 1,500 of its workers have reached a tentative contract agreement. The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 788 said the agreement preserved workers’ defined benefit pension plan, increased wages and improved health care coverage.

The Metro’s board of commissioners still must vote on the terms, and a union vote is scheduled for Sept. 25. The unionized employees have worked without a contract since August 2010.
