Uber, ride-sharing banned in Columbia until February

The Columbia City Council on Monday tabled a proposal to regulate ride-sharing drivers with background and insurance checks.

The discussion is tabled until Feb. 2, and until then ride-sharing is illegal in Columbia.

Uber, which began operating in Columbia in early October, will be forced to temporarily discontinue its services.
