Boeing Corp. has announced it will sell a new smartphone developed by its St. Louis operation. The phone, called the “Boeing Black,” will run on Google’s Android platform.
The phone has one security feature that no other manufacturer has yet included in its devices: the phone self-destructs if someone tries to open the case, deleting all data and rendering itself unusable.
Boeing says the phone is aimed at government agencies as well as security contractors. It will be built in the U.S., but it will not be made available to the public.
