About Missouri Business Alert
Missouri Business Alert is a digital newsroom that provides the top business news from across the state of Missouri. We help keep the state’s business decision-makers informed about the stories important to them.
Location: Columbia (University of Missouri campus)
Duration: 10 weeks
Commitment: 20-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday only
Reporting Pitch, report and produce stories on a wide range of business topics. Work as a multimedia reporter, producing text, video, audio, photos and graphics for a website, social media channels, email newsletters and podcasts. Combine daily beat reporting with collaborative, long-term team reporting projects. Must be able to work under and respect deadlines. Reporting experience is required. Experience in business journalism is preferred but not required.
Sales Meet with potential clients and advertisers, create sales strategies, make cold calls, attend statewide networking events and execute sales contracts. Must be able to set and keep appointments and have knowledge of Google AdSense. Sales experience is required.
Marketing Create marketing strategies, implement revenue streams, do design work, report on analytics, plan promotional events, attend statewide networking events and execute advertising and promotional campaigns. Must be able to set and keep appointments, have a grasp of social media and knowledge of Google ad campaigns. Experience in marketing and design is required.
Event Planning Help create and coordinate Missouri Business Alert’s summer and fall 2018 professional networking and business development events. Select topics, book venues and speakers, and secure partnerships and sponsors. Must be able to set and keep appointments, have strong communication skills and ability to build productive business relationships. Some experience in event planning is required.
Social Media Manage social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities. Develop relevant content topics to reach target readers. Create, curate, and manage all published content. Some experience or background in social media management is required.
