Here’s a look at some of the stories Missouri Business Alert is tracking this week:

Monday

Gallup will release its monthly report on daily consumer spending in the U.S., providing a glimpse of how Americans are using discretionary funds.

Local companies scheduled to release quarterly earnings include AMC Entertainment Holdings, LMI Aerospace and Stereotaxis.

Other companies set to report financial results include Marriott International and News Corp.

Tuesday

It’s Election Day, and two of Missouri’s high-profile races are projected to be close. A Monmouth University poll released Tuesday showed Republican Eric Greitens and Democrat Chris Koster tied at 46 percent in the governor’s race and Republican Roy Blunt with a narrow lead over Democrat Jason Kander, 47 percent to 46 percent, in their race for U.S. Senate. The same poll showed a wider margin in the presidential race in Missouri, with Republican Donald Trump leading Democrat Hillary Clinton, 52 percent to 38 percent.

The National Federation on Independent Businesses will release its monthly Index of Small Business Optimism. The index dipped last month and has been adversely affected in recent months by uncertainty surrounding the election.

Local companies scheduled to release quarterly earnings include Amdocs.

Other companies set to report financial results include Liberty Media and Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

Wednesday

The Census Bureau will deliver its monthly wholesale trade report for September. Wholesale inventories are projected to rise 0.2 percent, Bloomberg reports.

Local companies scheduled to release quarterly earnings include Energizer Holdings.

Other companies set to report financial results include DISH Network, Eastman Kodak, Shake Shack, SolarCity, Viacom and Wendys.

Thursday

Local companies scheduled to release quarterly earnings include Edgewell Personal Care.

Other companies set to report financial results include Kohls, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren and Walt Disney.

James Bullard, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, will deliver a speech at Commerce Bank in St. Louis.

The Missouri Development Finance Board is scheduled to meet in Jefferson City.

St. Louis-based shoe company Caleres will host the Caleres Fashion Entrepreneur Competition, featuring five designers from the St. Louis area vying for a $10,000 grand prize.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Bloch School of Management is hosting its 31st annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The program will honor several local founders.

Friday

Banks are closed for Veterans Day, but markets will be open.

Applications are due for the 2017 Invest Midwest Venture Capital Forum. Annually one of the state’s largest investment showcases, Invest Midwest will take place March 28 and 29 in Kansas City.
