Tony Jones will be the new president of the Kansas City Art Institute. Jones, who was previously chancellor and president emeritus at the Art Institute of Chicago, has a contract that runs through June 2017, with the possibility of an extension.
Stacey Paine, vice president of finance at Hallmark will succeed Bill Lucas as president of the Crown Center Redevelopment Corp. Lucas plans to retire at the end of this year after 20 years in the position.
Kansas City-based accounting and auditing firm MarksNelson has appointed Angie McElhaney to its executive committee. McElhaney has been a partner at the company for the last five years. The other two executives on the committee are managing partner Mark Radetic and COO David Kaseff.

Wehrenberg Theatres president and CEO Ronald Krueger, who led the St. Louis-based theater chain for more than five decades, has died of heart failure. He was 75. Kelly Hoskins, vice president of the company, called Krueger an “entertainment genius” and said “the world has lost amazing human being.”
Mary Parker, who was involved in a fraudulent scheme involving the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program, was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison. She is also required to pay a $30,000 fine. Parker admitted that she helped her husband Warren Parker and son Michael Parker lie about her husband’s veteran status so that their company, Silver Star Construction, could get contracts from the Veteran Administration’s program.
Awards and recognition
This year University of Missouri-Kansas City’s business school has selected Danny O’Neill and Gary White for its Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. O’Neill is the founder of The Roasterie coffee company, and White is CEO and cofounder of water.org, a charitable organization devoted to the delivery of safe drinking water. UMKC chose O’Neill for the Regional Entrepreneur of the Year honor, and White will receive the Marion & John Kreamer Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
