Legislative estimates suggest Missouri’s vote to legalize medical marijuana could open the door to an industry that generates $100 million in annual sales. But that won’t happen overnight. Infrastructure funding questions remain after fuel tax failure

Backers of a ballot measure that would have raised Missouri’s gas tax to generate funding for transportation infrastructure and the state highway patrol are plotting a path forward after voters rejected the measure. Criminal indictments filed in Table Rock duck boat accident

Federal prosecutors on Thursday announced criminal charges against the captain of the duck boat that sank on Table Rock Lake in July, killing 17 people. Kenneth Scott McKee of Mount Vernon faces multiple criminal counts for each of the passengers that died in the accident. Read more

Uber bans broadcasts of riders months after St. Louis snafu

Uber has updated its policies to ban drivers from broadcasting video, audio or images of their passengers. The change follows backlash over an Uber driver recording and then posting video of a group of National Hockey League players, who were caught complaining about teammates and coaches. That brought wider attention to an issue exposed this summer by a story on an Uber and Lyft driver from the St. Louis area who broadcasted live video of passengers without their consent. Read more

St. Louis firm KAI Design & Build makes another purchase

Architecture firm KAI Design & Build, one of the largest minority-owned businesses in the St. Louis area, has acquired St. Louis contractor Volk Construction Co. It’s KAI’s second recent acquisition, following the firm’s purchase last month of Atlanta-based engineering and design firm Dorsey Engineering. Read more
