Ameren Seeks 10 Percent Rate Hike

Ameren Missouri filed a request with the Public Service Commission to raise electric rates by $264 million, nearly 10 percent. It’s the sixth time since 2006 the state’s largest utility has sought a general rate increase.

KC Biotech Company Gets $3 Million Federal Grant

Kansas City-based ImpeDx Diagnostics, which is developing a technology that will rapidly diagnose sepsis, has received a $3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to help make the prototype it needs for clinical testing. CEO Steve O’Connor said the company will need to raise another $1 million to $2 million to fund the clinical testing.

St. Louis Sets Record For Hotel Bookings For Conventions, Meetings

The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission booked a record-high 625,160 hotel room nights in the fiscal year that ended June 30, up 13 percent from about 553,000 in the previous year, according to figures from the organization.

Financial Services Company Expanding In Kansas City

St. Louis-based Renaissance Financial Corp. moved into a new office in Overland Park, Kan., to give more space and visibility to an operation that is the fastest growing in the firm. The Kansas City-area operation has grown to 18 employees since opening in 2007, and the director of recruiting said the company expects employment to increase by 60 percent this year.

Katz Seeks New Trial After Losing A-B Sex Discrimination Case

Former Anheuser-Busch executive Francine Katz has filed a motion asking for a new trial in her sex discrimination lawsuit against the brewery. After three weeks of testimony and 10 hours of deliberation last May, nine jurors sided with Anheuser-Busch and three with Katz.
