Solar company Sungevity expanding to KC, plans to hire 600

Sungevity Inc., a residential solar services company, plans to create about 600 jobs over a five-year period with a new national sales and services center set to open in January in downtown Kansas City. Sungevity cited factors including a “fun techie business environment,” the pool of graduates from local colleges and universities and Kansas City’s central location for the expansion, which is the company’s first outside of its Oakland, Calif., headquarters.
