As deadline looms, KC sees little agreement on minimum wage

Six weeks removed from the Kansas City Council’s decision to delay a vote on raising the city’s minimum wage, middle ground remains tough to find between advocates for a $15-per-hour minimum wage and business groups opposed to the idea. Read more

Region sees shift in approach to record heat, climate change

In 2012, St. Louis and Missouri endured their hottest year on record, with 21 days of at least 100 degrees. By summer’s end, heat had killed 26 people in the St. Louis area, and drought had decimated the state’s corn harvest. Read more

KC, St. Louis participating in launch of veterans’ program

Kansas City and St. Louis are two of the first 25 cities where the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will launch a new initiative this summer aimed at giving veterans better educational and employment opportunities. Read more
