Defense contractor’s St. Louis County division wins $193 million tank contract

The St. Louis County-based division of defense contractor Leonardo DRS has been awarded a $193 million defense contract to equip U.S. Army tanks with new defense systems. DRS Land Systems, a division of Virginia-based Leonardo DRS, is based in Cool Valley. The TROPHY system the company will install is used to help protect tanks from missiles and rocket-propelled grenades. Read more

St. Louis startups see ample money, fewer deals in first half of year

St. Louis startups raised $104 million across 23 deals over the first half of the year, according to new data from the National Venture Capital Association. That dollar amount represents one of the better first-half totals of the last decade for the area, but the deal count was one of the lowest of the last 10 years. Read more

Developer plans $68 million mixed-use project in KC’s West Bottoms

A Cleveland developer plans to spend $68 million turning five warehouses in Kansas City’s West Bottoms neighborhood into a mixed-used development featuring 250 apartments, restaurant and retail space, a courtyard and parking structure. Read more
