CVS Health is opening a new Northland facility, which is expected to hire 160 employees by the end of 2018, and eventually a total of 300 new employees. The new, 762,000-square-foot facility will focus on distribution and logistics, and support over 500 CVS Pharmacy stores throughout the Midwest. Read more

Judge affirms $4.69 billion verdict in talc case, J&J vows to appeal

A St. Louis trial court judge affirmed a $4.69 billion verdict against Johnson & Johnson in a case alleging the company’s talc-based products contain asbestos and caused 22 women to develop ovarian cancer. On July 12, the jury found in favor of the women, six of whom have died. On Tuesday evening the jury’s decision was affirmed by Judge Rex Burlison of the Circuit Court of the City of St. Louis. Read more

Children’s Mercy CEO O’Donnell to depart early; COO Stueve named interim leader

Randall O’Donnell is stepping down early from his role as chief executive of Children’s Mercy Hospital, citing health issues. O’Donnell, CEO of the Kansas City hospital since 1993, was scheduled to retire Nov. 1, but now his final day will be Sept. 2. Jo Stueve, the COO and a 30-year veteran of Children’s Mercy, will lead the hospital on an interim basis for two months. Read more
